I made a mistake in buying this book. I wanted the one-volume version of Pershing's autobio, this was volume I. My bad. I sold it to a bookstore here.

A Must Read for Military Historians
Think you know about the First World War? Find out first hand from the man selected to build AEF. This two volume set details the creation of a non existent army, building it, out-fitting it, training it, shipping it, building a logistics support system, politically fighting to get it formed under one flag and then taking it into battle. This is not about individual battles but the Strategic Plan and the effort to execute it. The result was recognition of the US as a military power. Well written and well worth the time spent to read, if this is your interest.
