Written between the two world wars and before Churchill achieved his mythic status, this very readable book describes the closing days of the Victorian era as well as gives an account of the British Army in India and Africa at the time. Worth reading if only for a better understanding of the Empire's attitude towards other races.

Winston Churchill's "My Early Life"
This is one of the best autobiographies ever written. Winston Churchill's story is remarkable and frequently amazing and his writing does it justice. His style is delightful, inimitable and utterly enthralling...in short, a match for his subject.

Great Read
I remembered reading an exerpt from the Boer War section decades ago and had searched for it several times.
An absorbing adventure read from one of the great masters of prose.
