The smooth and danceable, blue eyed, soul stylings of My Desire are engagingly similar to George Michael's music in tone, delivery and vocal expression. However, David Michael doesn't dare attempt anything close to the overt sensuality of George Michael, and instead embraces affirmative declarations on love and dreams within a breathless pop-funk package. The simple joy of living, and the expectant joy of love, are two themes he explores on the enjoyable tracks "Beautiful Thing" and "Together Again." His lyrics are well intentioned and saccharine without being overly sappy, and that's a remarkable feat considering the subject matter.
