'My Brother's Keeper' is based on a true story. Ms. Davenport fully develops her main characters, Seymour and Randall, and the supporting characters, grandmother and mother, in the story . She describes the unfolding scenes with such in-depth color that one truly escapes from reality into the theater of the mind where one becomes a viewer into the character's minds and the plot and scenes. There is no foul language and no violence, however, the plight of the main characters calls to your innermost emotions because of the impact of maternal forces on their early lives which impact their adult lives. My dear friend, Josephine, recommended this book to me nearly forty years ago. Over the years I have read this book at least five times, yet it has been refreshingly a good read each time.
