Members of this family came across the Atlantic as some of the earliest settlers in New England and proceeded to move west and record Civil War experiences and left records of early automotive development. They have provided us with many letters recording the actions of the Mississippi Marine Brigade including the strange event when members of the Brigade were incarcerated when they opposed unfair treatment. Wood family members include Pilgrims that were aboard the Mayflower's epic voyage to America.
