The sonatas are separated by a series of song transcriptions, the ones of Barber by Simon Parkin and those of Rachmaninov by Sheku Kanneh-Mason himself. In these, and in the slow movements of the sonatas, Sheku displays an arresting cantabile that is way beyond the norm, but Sheku and Isata are equally good in the outer movements of the thorny Barber sonata, and here, it is Isata who shines.
