Horn players with developing recording careers sooner or later must tackle Mozart's four canonical concertos, the bedrock of the hornist's solo repertoire. Beyond that, some may also get around to his Concert Rondo for horn and orchestra, the Quintet for horn and strings, and the sextet, Ein Musikalischer Spass (A Musical Joke), for two horns and strings. Here, Dutch player Teunis van der Zwart has inventively put together an entire CD of Mozart works for horn, and included only one concerto, the third, in E flat, K. 447. ...
