At the time, American organist Daniel Chorzempa was a young phenomenon of the instrument. He was noted for sheer virtuosity in Romantic works, but here he effectively shifted gears into the not particularly difficult but bright and sunny realm of Mozart's church sonatas or epistle sonatas, single-movement works intended for incorporation into the celebration of the mass at Salzburg Cathderal. They're not Mozart's greatest works, but aside from a few small works for toy organ-like devices, one of which is included here, they represent his only encounter with the organ (which he liked well enough to call the king of instruments).
