The "Hotel Bruce" was my intro, and that took me back to this original book featuring Bruce, the patient but long-suffering bear. The art is just this side of loony, and very colorful, (really suitable for framing if prints were out there). The humor is by turns wry and off-the-wall, just the thing for kids... but none of are immune. Try his Scholastic Press interview (2022) with his two big oofy dogs napping behind him on the couch, a very good explanation of how his art works with narrative, and not just for kids!
