Renford Bambrough was an English ordinary language philosopher - a student of Ryle and Austin who practiced "Oxford Philosophy" and was for many years editor of Philosophy, the journal published by the Royal Institute of Philosophy. In this book, Bambrough argues on behalf of the objectivity of moral judgment and against moral relativism. His summary of the arguments for and against these views and his thorough examination of the issues involved make this one of the best books on this topic and an excellent compedium of the relevant material. Highly recommended, though perhaps a bit old-fashioned for some readers.
