Seller's Description:
Very Good in Good jacket. Massive, handsome, and important facsimile reprint of all of the 421 plates contained in the original five folio albums devoted to antiquities from the 1798 Napoleon Bonaparte expedition that first introduced the West to ancient Egypt. Dustjacket has some serious sunning, with a few small closed tears at the edges, although now encased in a Mylar sleeve. Aside from some slight sunning to the very edges of the boards, though, the binding is solid and tight, the edges and corners are sharp, and the interior is clean and clear of markings. A separate folded map is laid in at back. Contextual introductions are in English, with facsimile reproductions in black and white. Excellent appendices.
