Seller's Description:
Good in Good jacket. 1st printing. 4to cloth. 436pp. Illustrated with the abundant and fine drawings of the author done very likely on location. Selected Bibliography. Index. Maps. The author did several books on Western ghost towns and mining camps and I consider her one of the two mid 20th century authorities on the subject, the other being Lambert Florin. Her drawings are so unique in style and I believe accurately done. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING WITH THIS COPY. Four pages (226-7 & 234-5-each pair are facing pages) were so lightly printed that they are virtually blank. I have scanned and printed those pages from another copy and laid in those pages. Thus, this would be considered a "reading copy, " but the rest of the text & binding is very good, and in a good dj. Important and classic resource on the subject. A BONUS: Ironically, the pps 226-227 in facsimile are about the most famous ghost town / mining camp, Garnet, which has been restored. Your bookseller visited Garnet on a trip to Alaska in 1970. I have recently scanned my slides of the trip, including Garnet. The town at that time, in the early summer of the year, was just barely starting to be restored. The buyer of this copy will be given seven of my best color photos of Garnet in jpeg form. They are good photos from Kodak Ektachrome transparency film. The photos are copyrighted, but the buyer will be provided jpeg files to be looked at in electronic format and also permission will be give to make one print of each one if the purchaser desire to have print copies. My work on this and the quality of the photography (I am a good photographer, and was back then) accounts for the higher price of this copy despite the replacement pages.
