The apostle discerned that spirit and expression are inseparable; that spirit must of necessity express itself in t/ze beginning was t/ze Word. Each thought of God, from the beginning, has found its expression in some form. But when John calls the supreme manifestation Of the spirit the Word, he sets the seal upon the sovereignty of word language as the most natural if not the highest form of human expression.
