Lionel Benedict Nicolson MVO (1914-1978) was a British author and art historian. In 1939 he was appointed as Deputy Surveyor of the King's Pictures. During the war he joined the Intelligence Corps, where he rose to the rank of Captain. After being appointed MVO, he went on to edit Burlington Magazine. Perry Townsend Rathbone (Jul. 1911-Jan. 2000) was a leading art museum directors of the 20th century. He was director of both St. Louis Art Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He transformed both institutions to vibrant cultural centers. Known for his bold publicity stunts and his sensitive installations, he increased attendance and membership at both institutions.
