Seller's Description:
Near Fine. No Jacket. Miss Lonelyhearts is actually a male newspaper columnist giving advice to the lovelorn. West's masterpiece of black humour, a literary high spot. Although written during the Great Depression, West avoids politics. All of his works certainly have an edge of cynicism and can be quite surreal. This is a Near Fine copy of the Third Issue of the First Edition. Gray cloth binding with blue lettering; Greenberg logo on the spine. The book's publishing history is complicated. Boni & Liveright brought it out just as they went bankrupt; their sheets were then used by Harcourt, Brace (the 2nd issue) and Greenberg (considered the 3rd issue). Tiniest bumping, an almost imperceptible lean, and a dusty top-edge, else a Fine copy. Clean text; 213 pages, very fresh and bright. Lacking the dustjacket, but laid-in is one of the jacket's flaps, just to increase the collector's frustration. In an archival plastic protector. Size: 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall.
