Seller's Description:
Near Fine. 4to No Dust Jacket As Issued. 135 pp, Karin Stempel: The Concept; The Project. Private Light: Interfaces by Tracey Bashkoff. Public Light: The Very Serious Artfulness of Mischa Kuball. Public Alphabet: Sao Paulo 1998. Urban Lights: Mischa Kuball Insert. Appendix: biography, bibliography, acknowledgments. Text in German, English and Portuguese. Concept artist Mischa Kuball prefers the bright medium. With his light installations, the artist born in 1959 intervenes in public and social life. The immaterial qualities of light are fundamental to his art. It is aesthetic sensation and the symbol for epiphany, for insight and enlightenment. That is to say, the light work unfolds its particular intensity at the interface between public space and public action. In this volume, seventy-two families or individuals in São Paulo were asked to exchange one lamp from their living space for one developed by Kuball. The lamps he received in exchange were placed closely together in the exhibition space and constituted the German contribution to the 24th Biennale do São Paulo. Near Pristine. Clean, tight and strong binding with no underlining, highlighting or marginalia. Illustrated paper covered boards.
