A, to opinions Which deny the credibility of extant dependent evidence which assert the inexactness of the statements made in the primary, independent, but non-existent source of our knowledge and which maintain, nevertheless, that the legend is rooted in truth. But these are among the reasons why the legend must, as I have said already, be inscrutable to those who can only conceive its problems as the historian does.
