"Maintenance" or " Repairs," for instance, should not appear as separate primary headings, but should be segregated for the different departments, e.g. mine-maintenance to be included in " Mining," millmaintenance in "Milling," &c, either on the basis of actual shop returns, or in proportion to the labour employed in each department, as is sometimes done. The Committee recommend that General Charges should, as far as possible, include such items as: --(a) Consulting Engineer's and General Manager's Fees. (b) Office Staff. (c) Stationery, Postages, Telegrams. (d) Medical and Sanitary Charges. (e) Travelling Expenses. (/) Fire Insurance. (g) Employer's Liability Insurance. (/;) Transport, Stabling. (2) Local Bank Charges. 6. Realisation Charges on Products.--These may include: --(a) Transport to Railway. (b) Railway Freight. (c) Shipping Charges, Agency and Commission. (d) Sea Freight, Insurance, &c. (e) Selling Expenses, Returning Charges, &c. 7. Profit Tax, Income Tax, Royalties and other Taxes.--An estimated allowance for these taxes should be included in working costs. 8. Head Office Charges.--These may include, in addition to expenses inseparable from a Head Office, such items as: --(a) Auditors' Fees. () Bank Charges. (c) Legal Expenses. (d) Directors' Fees. (e) Office Rent. (/) Foreign Agency Expenses and Advertising. 1 (g) Interest on Loans or Debentures.
