Some of The Mind of God is above my head; I dont know science that well yet. But the book is still engaging as Davies considers the big questions, like origin of the universe, metaphysics, scientific philosophies, etc. He writes of the scientific endeavor to come up with a theory of everything, thus he refers to Stephen Hawkings phrase that to know this theory would be to know the mind of God. He also writes that the majority of those in the field of science believe the universe is orderly, so they continue on this endeavor.
Davies allows for mystical knowledge, but will take the scientific method as far as it can go, to explain as much as it can explain, before entertaining the personal revelation of a mystical experience. Davies does not just toss aside religion because of a materialist philosophy.
