David and Michelangelo walk among the beautiful Greek and Roman statues in the garden, opening David's eyes to the amazing ability of artists to turn stone into seemingly lifelike forms. David is amazed to see his own face emerging out of a hunk of marble as Michelangelo uses him as a model for one of his sculptures. As the day continues, David encounters wonderful creatures and people: a man with a head like a bear who gives him an eagle mask, a beautiful girl named Paola, a special spotted green frog, and reunites with the explorer named Columbus who is about to set out on a great expedition.
