This play covers several Greek myths in an interesting and entertaining manner which as a staged presentation is a great evening of theater. It is an enjoyable read and very inspiring.
These vignettes are only a small selection from Ovid but she captures his overall theme. Also, the ancients' participatory attitudes toward their religion of ritual cycles of sacrifice and acceptance of fate with disdain for personal pride become palpable.
Zimmerman is really good at using current idioms of language and stage work to bring ancient tales to life for modern audiences, such as her other plays on The Odyssey, The Argonauts and the Arabian Nights.
