Seller's Description:
Very Good with no dust jacket. Transcribed from his journals by his son. Watson was one of those rare individuals who kept journals throughout his life. He was a literate observor of his times, traveled extensively in the US and in Europe. Includes the "extraordinary and perilous journey of my father, in thecrisis of theRevolution from Massachusetts to Georgia; his subsequent expedition from New-England to North Carolina, soon after, his travls, at a later period, In newly occupied territories; and his explorations of districts almost in their primeval condition..." This is the uncommon FIRST EDITION. The book is still in its original brown publisher's cloth binding, which is spotted and stained; the contents are tight and the pages mostly clean, except for the first and last few which are stained. The pages are mostly rippled. With all its faults, this is still an uncommon title and an important first hand account of one man's vew of the revolution and condition of the nation before and after that great event. REF: Howes W167; 8vo 8"-9" tall; 460 pages.
