Signed on the front free endpaper, "Dear Leon, glad to autograph this copy for you, for the sake of old times. James B. Herrick Oct. 15, 1949." The book is in very good condition with some slight edge wear to top and bottom of the spine. Previous owner's bookplate on front paste down. Interior is clean and tight. Illustrated with Black & White photos. James B. Herrick (1861-1954) was an American physician and professor of medicine who practiced and taught in Chicago. He is credited with the description of sickle-cell disease and was one of the first physicians to describe the symptoms of myocardial infarction. Pictures available upon request.
