Through the years, it stood a proud symbol of a community shaped by generations of capable, dedicated teachers. Here 37 surviving students and a teacher from the '40s share their life stories beginning with their time within the walls of that school. Tellers of these stories share gratitude for teachers who educated and often tamed them. They praise the small school experience where each learned to speak before others, performed in plays and learned to read and play music; where all played sports and had a chance to hold office and serve on committees.
