The power of which they are masters, preserves them commonly from any tincture of ridicule. But ridicule was prevalent in the Cardinal, because he said foolilh foolish things, which is not common even to thosa that act foolishly in the like posts. Marigni came at that time very opportunely from Sweeden, and having given himself in fome fort to me, I let him loose upon him.
