Some of those, might have been interested in a clerical career, while others were probably more inclined toward marriage. Also offered here are an instructional piece or two for those who, because of their high-class privilege, could afford to delay planning the course of their life and instead chose recklessly to become enmeshed in more mundane pursuits. (How quintessentially modern!)
