Amazingly Poignant Autobiography
Sir Elton John is an undisputed musical genius who has given the world a treasure trove of songs mostly co-written by his lyricist and good friend Bernie Taupin. He is also, by his own account, short-tempered, a drug and alcohol abuser (now sober 25+ years), and a damaged soul from his unhappy childhood. He is also wickedly funny in his observations about 1950s and '60s life in the UK, about other people in the music business, and also about himself. Thankfully he found help in the form of rehab and joy in his marriage to his partner David Furnish and becoming a parent to 2 boys (through a surrogate) in his later years. I really enjoyed this book for its honesty and humor. Even if you're not a fan of his music, you will likely find Elton John's personal story to be gripping and a page-turner
