Direct copy from McClane's Standard Fishing Encyclopedia's descriptions and life cycles of North American Fishes. This book makes it easy to take McClane's authoritative descriptions with you. I would have preferred the addition of angling and food value to all fishes described, but you can't have everything, and alas, A. J. is gone. Perhaps an updated version with the addition of the freshwater version of Striped Bass, Wiper, and Saugeye could be the work of someone. Still, for it's time, this is an authority.
