Such stars of French opera as Eric Tappy (Torquemada), Andrée Aubery Luchini (Concepción), and Michel Sénéchal (Gonzalve) demonstrate their understanding of Ravel's allusions -- witty references to the Comédie Française and Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande abound -- and deliver their roles with droll humor and exuberance.
