The paintings that brought Matthias Weischer (*1973 in Elte) international recognition depict interiors, often sparsely furnished rooms, in which decorative elements and shifted perspectives create an unsettling sense of space, questioning the viewer's power of perception. The rough nature of Weischer's drawings have an immediate effect on the viewer, representing a second, stylistically very independent, strand of his work.
