well-written but disappointing
Winslow writes well and cares about her subject, but I was disappointed that she spent almost no time describing Williams' thoughts and beliefs. WHY was he exiled? There are touching and engaging descriptions of England, New England and Williams' relations with the Indians, but surely the most important aspect of Roger Williams was exactly HOW he was a rebel, and that is scarcely touched upon.
