Adams(1850-1901) began his famous seminar in history, where a large proportion of the next generation of American historians trained. Among his students were Woodrow Wilson, Thomas Dixon, Jr., and Charles McLean Andrews. The book is in fair condition with shelf wear and chipping to edges. Some pages are still unopened. Very Good. First edition. Octavo. Rebound in three quarter cloth with marbled paper over boards with red morocco spine label gilt. Attractive engraved bookplate and evidence of another bookplate removed, both on the front pastedown, light nicking at the edges of the lable and foot of the spine, very good; internally fine.
