From a small hotel room in Nashville, an aspiring songwriter from Colby, Kansas looked with hopeful heart on the road that lay ahead. With dreams of writing songs, a young Mark Schultz quickly realized that the Lord was about to use his talents in a way he could never have imagined - through kids. Athletic and musical, he naturally found himself connecting to youth, and songs of worship and relationship began to grow out of his involvement with members of First Presbyterian Church in Nashville, where he has served for most of four years as youth director. With transparent love and honesty, Mark has written for his kids. His songs are for the seniors who graduated and left his group for college - "Remember Me". For the teenagers whose lives were changed forever on a two-week mission trip in Jamaica - "Cloud of Witnesses". And for the friend's fourteen-year old son fighting for his life against cancer - "He's My Son". The situations that have moved Mark's pen are each uniquely special in his life, but the songs are easily transferable enough to speak into the lives of youth and adults everywhere. With a commitment to record the songs that reflect his life and the people who have enriched it - Myrrh Records is proud to release Mark Schultz's self-titled debut album. Produced by award-winning producer Monroe Jones (Third Day, Chris Rice, Margaret Becker, Ginny Owens, Watermark), Mark's release uniquely captures the stories and spirit of his heart for the Lord and a passion to share that heart with people of all ages.
