Swinging-kip to extended-arm-rest; underswing to stand forward. In order to execute the swinging-kip properly the toes must be brought to the bar at the end of forward swing, the legs and arms remaining extended; the legs are then immediately pushed upward close to the bar until a point halfway up the thighs is reached; the legs are then swung down, the arms overtaking the weight of the body. This movement must not be forced and when properly executed it requires very little strength. It is one of the prettiest of gymnastic exercises. 7. Swinging-kip to the free-rest, and underswing. The legs are swung nearly to the back horizontal at the completion of the kip. 8. Swinging-kip to the extended-rest; then drop to the extended instep-balance-hang, and execute the hanging-kip. The hanging-kip is executed exactly like the swinging-kip. 9. Leap to extended-instep-balance and hanging-kip to the rest on hands. 10. Combine the swinging and hanging-kips with the various circles and underswings. The swinging-Hp may also be taken in connection with the various vaults over the bar. K. SWINGLNG-PULL-UP (UPRISE, STEM, ETC.). 1. Swing and at end of rear swing pull-up to the bent-arm position and drop. 2. Same, pulling up and slipping elbows over bars and drop. 3.
