A young mage named Izal wants to enter the annual mage race around the world. However, he has not finished his affinity training yet. Despite his teacher's wishes he enters the race anyways. Once you enter the race you are bound by blood to either finish the race or DIE trying. Izal has a couple weeks to prepare for his journey. On top of that he has to find two teammates. Most mages that enter the race usually has mastered at least two magical affinities. In previous races, mages that register for the race could only put down one of their affinities to use for the duration of the race. They were magically bound to use that one type of magic. But the rules could change at any moment during the race. The race consists of fifty way-points. The mages that make it to each way-point are allowed three days to rest up before they are forced to continue the race. Any mage that wishes to forfeit will have to face one of the previous Champions. No one has successfully defeated a Champion. Only by beating the Champion will they be allowed to stop the race. On top of the Champions on the hunt for leavers, there are countless traps set by mercenary mages. Then if that wasn't enough, there are five way-points that are arenas where the racers are given a task to complete whether it is a fight or a puzzle. What, might you ask, would be worth the fighting and near death experiences? Unimaginable magical power and the grand title of Champion.
