Maeght (1901-81) and his wife, Marguerite, supported: Alexander Calder, Alberto Giacometti, Pablo Palazuelo, Georges Braque, Julio Gonz???lez, Jean Arp, Barbara Hepworth, Antoni T???pies, Joan Mir??? and Marc Chagall. The 17 works presented belong to the Fondation Maeght, whose collection of sculptures is one of the most significant in the world. Maeght encouraged the form's evolution throughout the 20th century, championing modernist artists with distinct, and often contentious, visions.
