The revised, expanded Second Edition of this text gives the reader a complete working knowledge of the use of both CT and MRI in diagnosing spinal disorders. Maintaining the case-study format of the original edition, the authors have now added MRI examples for most diseases and also added examples of three-dimensional CT. Case examples of six diseases not covered in the original edition are also included. For each of 73 diseases, the authors first present an "unknown" case - an unidentified scan, with a history, that challenges the reader to make a diagnosis. The Second Edition uses MRI case material as the "unknown" for most of the diseases. The case example is followed by an in-depth discussion of the imaging findings, the disease, and the differential diagnosis, along with additional MRI and CT scans showing the disease. Anatomic drawings are often used for correlation with the scans.
