It is crucial to identify the factors limiting this procedure and to assess its impact on the prognosis of patients with pelvic gynecological cancers. A retrospective study of 85 patients operated on at Ben Arous Hospital over a 19-year period revealed that factors such as obesity, complications during pelvic curage, type of cancer, and surgeon experience influence the performance of lumbo-aortic curage. Although this procedure is associated with complications, it significantly improves recurrence-free survival at 3 years. In conclusion, despite the technical challenges and associated risks, lumbo-aortic curage, when performed, appears to offer a survival benefit.
