This was my first dip into chick-lit waters, and probably my last (although a friend did say its quality has declined in recent years). I was expecting, as advertised, an art-world version of "The Devil Wears Prada," but it wasn't even dishy in that respect. Cliche characters (the preening, pretentious gallery owner, the crass collector, and the wide-eyed narrator marvelling at the money and politics of it all), the requisite romance held at bay until the end, the descriptions of lavish lifestyles... I guess it's all part of the formula. It wasn't terrible-- the plot and writing were okay-- just disappointing, even for light summer reading.
