I visited many of the inns in this book -- back in the 1970's -- and they were indeed charming. Most of them that I've sought out recently have closed or inevitably changed. And so have the prices! While the Red Lion Inn at Stockbridge hasn't been radically altered, the prices certainly have. A single room is listed in the book at $18.00 per night. Those were the days!
