Inspiring
I was totally enthralled and amazed. What a journey!! I read this right before my husband and I left on our own 3300 mile motorcycle trip through five states in 8 days. As a writer and photographer "Long Way Round" was interesting and thought provoking. Most of us take for granted what we have and abuse our casual/materialistic lifestyle. We forget too easily about the other humans around the world and their daily life that is so vastly different and for many just about survival.
I enjoyed the book and will pass it on to anyone I can get to sit down long enough to read a book. I have seen a few clips from the documentary and can't wait to get hold of the DVD itself.
As a child I would go around on Halloween with a little box collecting for UNICEF while bagging my candy. As a little girl I knew there were those less fortunate than myself and always felt it was sad that I had a nice warm bed and full stomach, yet out there there was another child like myself cold and having the pains of hunger. UNICEF is a wonderful foundation and I am so glad that this brought back to view the needs of others while sharing with us this incredible experience of two men on their life changing journey. READ THIS BOOK!!! and THEN SEE THE MOVIE.
