Published right before the 2020 presidential election, Sean Hannity's Live Free Or Die is a portrayal of the leftward shift of the Democratic party and a warning of what we can expect if a Democratic president is elected. The opening of the book is a history of the founding of America and a consideration of the principles of limited government as envisioned by the Framers. Hannity also examines the emergence of progressivism in the opening decades of the twentieth century and some of the failures of these policies; he points out that progressives mean well but have created a situation in which the standard of living goes down for everyone as evidenced in the Carter and Obama administrations. The Green New Deal, the Russia Collusion Hoax, and Donald Trump's accomplishments as president are among the other subjects covered in this book.
My takeaways from this book are as follows: liberals have no use for freedom because it comes in the way of their agenda; liberals claim they want to help people but the reality is that they really want to control people; and, many liberals live in their own version of reality. Now, two years into the Biden administration, we have growing inflation and increasing crime; if liberal policies are so great, why am I paying more for food and fuel? Moreover, if Starbucks has had to close down two of its Seattle stores due to safety concerns, there must be a serious problem with crime in a Democrat-led city in a Democrat-led state. It appears that Hannity's warnings have come to fruition.
