This Study Edition of the ESV is helpful to me because I write devotions for the radio. I like the literary insights contained in the little gray boxes distributed throughout the text. As advertised, this book treats the Bible as literature without approaching the Bible as only literature. The writers are Evangelical and have a high view of the authority of Scripture. The best features are 1) the single column text, 2) the daily Bible reading guide in the back of the book, and 3) what seems to be pretty good hardback binding by the publisher (Crossway). The not-so-good things include 1) light black characters printed on off-white paper (it's not as easy to read for an old guy as the Bibles written with black characters on white paper), and 2) if you are looking for a commentary, this isn't it! This book is on my most important book shelf.
