Seller's Description:
Near Fine. No Jacket. Signed by Author An interesting work by the anarchist/socialist J(ohn) William Lloyd (1857-1940). Lloyd was a prolific author of novels, essays, and poetry. He had attempted utopian life, eventually coming around to a rather libertarian view, seasoned with a large dose of Free Love (is it not always thus? ). This is a Near Fine copy of the First Edition. Green cloth binding, with blindstamping in black. Clean text; 296 pages, with an Appendix and an Afterword regarding "Nietzsche and the Battle for Life." Lloyd believes that Nietzsche is a materialist "and I am a Spiritualist." This book is nicely produced, Almost square in format with decorative lettering throughout, showing a Craftsman influence. This copy has been SIGNED by the Author on p. VIII of the prelims, following a poem. An interesting artifact from an idealistic age. Size: 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall.
