The Conference for 1832 met at Pilot Grove, Cooper county, Missouri, and commenced its session on the 17th of September, Bishop Soule presiding, John Glanville acting as Secretary. There were received by transfer Thomas Bertholf, from Illinois; Alfred W. Arrington, from Indiana, and Martin Wells, from the Tennessee Conference. Seven were received on trial; into full connection, three; four located; two H were on the supernumerary, and five on the superannuated list. No expulsions, withdrawals or deaths. John S. Barger was transferred to Illinois. The numbers in society were: whites, six thousand one hundred and three; colored, seven hundred and fifty-six; Indians, three hundred and thirty-nine; total, seven thousand one hundred and ninety-eight--showing an increase over the last year of eight hundred and seventy-seven whites, three hundred and eight colored, and two hundred and eighty-four Indians. Total increase, one thousand four hundred and sixty-nine--a very gratifying result as to the labors of the year, particularly as to the Indians, among whom missions had been so recently established. The year now closing had been marked by a greater extension of the work--a larger increase in the number of districts and circuits, as well as of members--than any previous year in all the past history of the Conference. Four new districts were formed, in fact, though not in name--one in Missouri, called the Indian Missionary District, and three in Arkansas; one called Little Rock District, and the others put down as the Creek Missions and Schools, and the Cherokee Missions and Schools.
