The country from Free-town to this village has been slightly sketched. A word or two more about it may not be out of place. The road to it is by the Old Maroon burial-ground, through that part of the town which lies under the hills to the left of the place of General Interment. It is extremely tiring owing to its being so steep and circuitous, but the view as you ascend it repays you for the trouble, since it opens in the most beautiful manner. For awhile you are enclosed on the left of the road by the sides of the mountains which are covered with shrubs and coffee-trees, whilst the deep and expanding valley below spreads itself out until lost amongst the distant elevations.
