This Hyperion album features his three known violin concertos as well as the Quartetto in G major. Lidarti's compositions are charming, with the solo violin parts occasionally rising in interest, but for the most part there's very little in his writing to warrant much excitement. Still, exposure to unfamiliar music can be enlightening given the right performance. Violinist and conductor Francesco d'Orazio leads Auser Musici in a performance that is far from enlightening. Given the success and quality of many of his other albums, it's a bit surprising to hear such poor playing from d'Orazio on this disc.
