This book has been written with the realization that more information is required on the strengths of the Ḥanaf+ School before presenting "The New Methodology." The book, therefore, addresses the major contributions of the School, and those features that have been under attack by other schools in the previous centuries, along with those criticisms that are more recent. As the defensive aspect of the book gained prominence in the writing, it was thought appropriate to name it as "Defending the Frontiers of the Ḥanaf+ School." This, then, will be the third book in the series.The present Lex Islamica series is on Islamic Jurisprudence or uṣkl al-fiqh, including legal maxims or qaw'id fiqhiyyah. The focus is on the Ḥanaf+ School so as to keep matters clear and crisp and avoid confusions that sometimes result from comparative studies. The positions taken by the other Sunni Schools will be easily identified once the Ḥanaf+ position has been ascertained. The remaining titles in this series are the following: - The Ḥanaf+ Methodology of Uṣkl al-Fiqh: Old and New- The Ḥanaf+ Qaw'id and Qawn+n Uṣkliyyah- Ḥanaf+ Qaw'id Fiqhiyyah
