Written by Alfred Thayer Mahan. Mahan was a US naval officer and historian, with his writings on the influence of sea power throughout history making him world famous. Some of his other works include 'The Influence of Sea Power Upon History, 16601783', 'The Life of Nelson the Embodiment of the Sea Power of Great Britain', and 'From Sail to Steam, Recollections of Naval life'. With two folding maps, showing the island of Cuba and the Caribbean Sea. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A very little marking to the boards. Bookseller's label to the front pastedown. Prior owner's ink inscription to the verso to the front endpaper, and to the recto to the front free endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Small close tear to the fore edge of page xiii. Very Good Indeed.
