Seller's Description:
Good. Quarto, 453pp. A good copy only in contemporary half red morocco over mottled paper-covered boards. Boards edgeworn, title page trimmed too closely with some loss (though the engraved title page is rather nice). There is an advertisement for an 1886 production in Liege loosely tipped-into the front paste-down, a cabinet card of the composer pasted onto another blank leaf, and a typed note signed by Meyerbeer posted onto the verso of that leaf. We have examined it very closely, and the note may be printed rather than signed, but it's very hard to tell. Regardless, a rather interesting volume despite its wear. Stamped name of "Maria de Soura Mesquita" appears numerous times throughout the book.
